In a lush, beautiful green forest, herds of Cows, Giraffes, Sheep, and Humans were all led by a highly respected ruler. Interestingly, this mighty ruler was not a roaring lion or a fire-breathing dragon. It was actually a Mosquito!
In those ancient times, the Mosquito was not a tiny, annoying bug like the ones we see today. He was a majestic, giant creature with massive, powerful wings. His generous, patient, and incredibly kind heart made him the beloved King of the entire forest.
Completely opposite to the giant King, Humans in that era were actually incredibly tiny, exactly the size of modern-day mosquitoes!
Despite their extreme size difference, the tiny Human was the giant Mosquito King's absolute best friend. No matter what his tiny friend asked for, the King always tried his very best to fulfill his wishes with a sincere heart.
The Birthday Dilemma
One beautiful sunny day, the tiny Human was celebrating his birthday.
All the animals in the forest joyfully gathered to give him wonderful, special gifts. The Cow arrived carrying sweet, fresh milk, the Giraffe brought a delicious young coconut picked from the highest tree, and the Sheep happily donated his thick wool to make warm, cozy blankets for the tiny Human.
However, in the middle of all this cheerful celebration, the giant Mosquito King did not bring a single gift.
He was completely confused. He had spent days trying to figure out what the absolute perfect gift would be for his dearest friend, but he could not think of anything good enough.
The next morning, after the birthday party was over, the Mosquito King sat sadly on a large grey rock in his royal garden. His face looked incredibly gloomy. A few moments later, the Cow walked past the garden, whistling a happy tune. Seeing her King looking so sad, the Cow immediately stopped and walked over to help.
The Wise Cow's Advice
"O Great King, what is making you sit here all alone with such a heavy heart?" the Cow asked politely. "You look so worried. Is there anything I can do to help you?"
The Cow's loud voice, which boomed like thunder on a clear day, broke the silence and slightly startled the giant King.
"Oh, hello Cow," sighed the Mosquito King. "You are right, my mind is a mess. Yesterday, I was the only guest who did not bring a single gift for my best friend's birthday celebration."
The garden was quiet for a brief moment before the Cow spoke again. "Forgive me for asking, Your Majesty, but do you know what the tiny Human actually desires more than anything else?"
The Mosquito King quickly shook his head. "That is exactly the problem, Cow! I have absolutely no idea what my best friend wants."
Hearing this, the wise Cow offered a very simple suggestion. "If that is the case, why doesn't Your Majesty just go and ask him directly?"
The King's eyes instantly lit up with joy! "Wow, that is a brilliant idea, Cow! Alright, tomorrow morning I will go see him and ask him myself," the Mosquito King said, finally smiling with relief.
A Very Strange Request
Right as the bright sun rose the very next morning, the Mosquito King quickly flew to the tiny Human's little wooden hut.
Because the King was so incredibly giant, he obviously could not fit inside his friend's tiny house. Luckily, a few moments later, the tiny Human stepped out from behind his small door.
Seeing his best friend, the King greeted him with a warm smile. "My dear friend, I am so happy to see you! Please forgive me, I did not give you a gift on your birthday because I was so confused. Tell me right now, what is your biggest wish? I promise I will try with all my might to give it to you!"
Hearing the King's generous offer, the tiny Human's face instantly glowed with excitement. He answered enthusiastically. Unfortunately, because he was so incredibly small, his voice was just a tiny squeak, completely impossible for the giant Mosquito King to hear.
"My friend, I cannot hear your tiny voice at all," the King chuckled. "Come closer, climb up onto my shoulder, and whisper your wish into my ear."
The tiny Human carefully climbed up the King's giant leg, struggling until he finally stood right next to the giant mosquito's ear.
"O kind-hearted Mosquito King, thank you for this golden opportunity," the Human whispered hopefully. "If you do not mind, could I please borrow your magical blood for just three days? I really want to know what it feels like to live as a giant creature. I do not want your wings, I just want a giant body exactly like yours!"
The Worrisome Pact
That shocking request made the Mosquito King fall completely silent for a very long time.
A sharp feeling of doubt and worry crept into his heart. However, his deep love and affection for his best friend quickly overpowered his anxiety.
"Alright, my dear friend," the Mosquito King finally answered. "If borrowing my magical blood will bring you true happiness, I will give you this chance. But you must promise me! Guard my magic carefully, because I will come back to ask for it in exactly three days."
Deep in his heart, the Mosquito King had to struggle to hide his terrible feeling of worry.
