Gathering Around the Old Wooden Table A Story of True Friends

2D webtoon comic illustration from a low angle looking up at five teenagers smiling and gathering around a round wooden table under a starry night sky.

Under the Autumn Stars

Ceritasakti.com - The small backyard behind Jun’s apartment building felt entirely different tonight. A large, worn-out round wooden table stood directly in the center of the dry grass. The autumn night sky above them looked incredibly clear, displaying thousands of bright silver stars over the quiet city.

The five friends gathered closely around the edges of the table. They did not have any pizza tonight. They only had cheap paper cups filled with warm instant chocolate, but nobody seemed to mind.

Jun leaned against the thick wooden edge of the table. He took a deep breath of the freezing air. His return flight to Indonesia departed in exactly twelve hours, but he refused to feel sad.

Odinn rested his massive elbows on the table's surface. He looked much more relaxed. "I spoke to my warehouse manager today," Odinn broke the comfortable silence. "I requested a morning shift for next month. I want to start attending night classes at the community college."

Lanny clutched her warm paper cup tightly. She smiled brightly at Odinn. "That is incredible news. The warehouse is just a stepping stone, Odinn. You are going to build something massive."

Otto perched carefully on a small wooden stool near Kiki. He pushed his thick glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"I received my final test scores this morning," Otto announced quietly. His hands trembled slightly. The entire group stopped breathing for a second. "I passed. I secured the minimum required score for the university scholarship."

Kiki immediately reached across the table and hugged Otto’s shoulders. Jun cheered loudly, completely ignoring the sleeping neighbors in the building above them. The heaviest burden on Otto's chest finally disappeared into the night sky.

Kiki pulled away and looked at her friends. "I mailed my final university application yesterday," she confessed. "The adult world terrified me a few months ago. It felt like a giant machine trying to pull us apart. But looking at this table right now, I am not scared anymore."

They understood her completely. The transition from carefree high school kids to struggling young adults nearly broke their spirit. They survived early morning bus rides, lonely coffee shops, and the brutal distance of different time zones.

The Unbreakable Bond

Jun placed his hands flat on the rough wooden table.

"We are going to change," Jun stated firmly. "Next year, we will be entirely different people. We will have new jobs, new schools, and heavier responsibilities. I will be thousands of miles away fixing engines in Jakarta. But distance and time cannot destroy this table."

Lanny stepped closer, resting her hand on top of Jun's hand. Kiki quickly added her hand to the pile. Otto smiled and placed his hand on top of Kiki's. Finally, Odinn reached over with his massive arm and covered all of their hands together.

The cold autumn wind blew across the backyard, rustling the dry leaves on the ground. But around the old wooden table, the warmth of their friendship burned brighter than the city lights.

They stood together under the starry sky, completely ready to face tomorrow. The transition was finally over. The real journey had just begun.

The Unexpected Return from the Tropics A Story of Friendship

The Unexpected Return from the Tropics A Story of Friendship

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers reuniting on a high building rooftop at sunset. One boy holds a travel bag while the others look completely shocked and happy.

(Hi..!! You are reading Episode 9 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 8 here | Read Episode 10 here)

Ceritasakti.com - The cold autumn wind blew across the high concrete roof of the apartment building. The golden sun slowly disappeared behind the tall city skyscrapers. Four exhausted teenagers gathered near the edge of the roof, safely behind the thick barrier wall.

Odinn placed a large square cardboard box on the rough ground. He opened the lid, revealing a warm pepperoni pizza. He stretched his massive shoulders after finishing another terrible ten-hour shift at the shipping warehouse.

Otto perched carefully on an empty milk crate. He wiped his thick glasses with the bottom of his sweater. He just completed his final university entrance exam that morning. His brain felt completely empty.

Lanny leaned her back against the cold concrete wall. She looked incredibly tired from her hospital internship. Kiki rested her chin on her knees, staring quietly at the bright orange sky.

"The pizza smells great," Kiki lied softly.

They all knew the truth. The pizza smelled exactly the same, and the sunset looked perfectly beautiful, but the rooftop felt terribly empty. They ate in complete silence. They missed the loud mechanic from Indonesia.

The Creaking Door

Suddenly, a loud metallic noise broke the quiet atmosphere.

The heavy iron door that led to the apartment stairs slowly creaked open. Otto turned his head, expecting the building manager to kick them off the roof. Odinn tightened his fists, ready to argue with anyone who interrupted their peaceful evening.

A young man stepped onto the roof.

He wore a dark blue denim jacket over a simple white shirt. He carried a heavy canvas travel bag over his right shoulder. His dark hair looked slightly messy from a very long flight.

The young man dropped his heavy bag on the concrete floor. "I traveled across the entire planet," Jun announced loudly, "and you guys started eating the pizza without me?"

For three seconds, nobody moved. The wind stopped blowing. The entire world seemed to freeze.

The Missing Piece

Odinn reacted first. He completely dropped his slice of pizza on the floor. He rushed across the roof and lifted Jun entirely off the ground with a massive hug.

Lanny screamed in pure joy. She covered her mouth with both hands, unable to believe her own eyes. Kiki immediately scrambled to her feet and ran toward them, wrapping her arms around Jun's waist. Otto stood up so quickly he accidentally knocked over his milk crate.

"Put me down, Odinn!" Jun laughed loudly, struggling to breathe. "You are going to break my ribs!"

Odinn gently placed him back on the ground. Otto walked over and hugged his friend tightly.

"You are supposed to be in Jakarta," Otto stated, pushing his glasses up his nose. "A plane ticket costs thousands of dollars. Statistically, this makes no sense."

Jun smiled at his four best friends. "I worked double shifts at my uncle's repair shop for six months. I saved every single coin. I bought a two-way ticket for a ten-day holiday. I needed to see my family."

Kiki wiped a small tear from her eye. "We are your family?"

"Of course you are," Jun replied softly. He looked at the orange city lights turning on below them. He looked at the half-empty pizza box.

The exhaustion of the adult world vanished completely. The heavy burden of exams, hospital shifts, and warehouse boxes disappeared into the cold autumn wind. The five friends gathered around the pizza box once again. The circle was finally whole, and for the next ten days, nothing else mattered.

A Late Night Phone Call Across the World A Slice of Life

A Late Night Phone Call Across the World A Slice of Life

2D webtoon comic illustration of four tired teenagers huddled around a glowing smartphone video calling their friend across the world.

(You are reading Episode 8 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 7 here | Read Episode 9 here)

Ceritasakti.com - The small digital clock on Otto's desk showed two in the morning. Outside the window, the giant metropolitan city remained quiet and dark. Inside the small bedroom, the only light came from the bright screen of Otto's smartphone.

Four exhausted friends gathered closely on the soft carpet. They leaned against the edge of Otto's bed. They looked terrible. Odinn wore his dirty warehouse uniform. His broad shoulders slouched forward from carrying heavy wooden boxes all day. Lanny rested her tired head against Kiki's shoulder. Kiki held a stack of rejected college application letters in her hands.

Otto balanced the glowing phone carefully on a stack of thick history books.

"The connection is dialing," Otto whispered. He pushed his heavy glasses higher on his nose. "It is currently two in the afternoon in Jakarta. He should be completely awake by now."

The phone screen turned black for a second. Then, a loading circle appeared.

A Familiar Face

The video call finally connected. The screen brightened, showing a very sunny outdoor background. Jun appeared on the screen. He wore a simple white t-shirt. Small drops of sweat covered his forehead. Behind him, loud motorcycles rushed down a busy, bright street in Indonesia.

"Hello from the other side of the planet," Jun smiled warmly through the small speaker.

Kiki instantly dropped her rejection letters on the floor. She leaned closer to the phone. "Jun! It is so bright over there. We are freezing in the middle of the night right now."

Jun wiped his forehead with a small towel. "The heat here is unbelievable. But the food is incredible. I just ate the spiciest noodles of my entire life."

Odinn pressed his face close to the camera lens. "Do they have good pizza in Jakarta? If they do not have good pizza, you need to come back immediately."

Jun laughed loudly. The sound of his laugh completely changed the heavy atmosphere in Otto's dark bedroom. The incredible weight of their adult responsibilities lifted for just a moment.

The conversation lasted for over an hour. They did not talk about anything particularly important. Odinn complained about his strict boss at the shipping warehouse. Lanny talked about the terrible hospital coffee. Otto explained his new study schedule.

Jun listened carefully. He rested his chin on his hand through the video screen.

"I miss the rooftop," Jun finally confessed softly. The loud street noise behind him seemed to fade away. "I work at my uncle's repair shop every single day. I fix cars for strangers. I am very tired, too. Adulthood is much harder than we imagined."

Lanny touched the edge of the smartphone screen. "We are all fighting the exact same battle, Jun. Just in different time zones."

Kiki nodded in agreement. The stack of rejected letters on the floor did not look so terrifying anymore. She realized she was not failing alone. They were all struggling together.

The Invisible Thread

Otto checked his digital clock again. It was almost three in the morning.

"We need to sleep," Otto announced reluctantly. "Odinn has a morning shift in three hours."

Jun smiled from the sunny side of the world. "Go to sleep, everyone. We will talk again next week. And Odinn, please do not drop any heavy boxes on your feet."

"I make no promises," Odinn joked softly.

Otto pressed the red button on the screen. The video call ended, and the dark bedroom felt quiet once again. But the room no longer felt lonely. The massive ocean and the twelve hours of time difference could not break their friendship. They slowly stood up from the floor, ready to face the difficult morning ahead.

The Airport Departure to Indonesia A Story of Heavy Goodbyes

The Airport Departure to Indonesia A Story of Heavy Goodbyes

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers gathering for an emotional goodbye inside a bright airport terminal.

(You are reading Episode 7 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 6 here | Read Episode 8 here)

Ceritasakti.com - The international airport terminal buzzed with the loud sounds of rolling suitcases and final boarding announcements. The bright fluorescent lights reflected off the polished white floor. People rushed in every direction, completely focused on their own destinations.

Jun gripped the handle of his large black suitcase. He stood near the international departure gates. He wore his favorite dark gray jacket. His flight to Indonesia boarded in exactly forty minutes. He needed to return home. His family back in Jakarta required his help, and the dream of fixing classic cars in this global city had to pause.

Four people gathered closely around him. They ignored the busy crowds rushing past them.

Kiki clutched the strap of her small shoulder bag tightly. She refused to look at the large electronic flight board above them. Lanny rested her hand gently on Jun's shoulder. Her curly brown hair looked slightly messy from rushing to the airport after her hospital shift.

The Final Instructions

Otto leaned against a tall metal pillar. He pushed his thick glasses up the bridge of his nose.

"Jakarta is twelve hours ahead of our time zone right now," Otto stated with a serious voice. He pulled a small notebook from his pocket. "I calculated the optimal times to call. If I call you at eight in the morning before my classes, it will be eight at night for you. We can maintain regular communication."

Jun smiled at his American friend. "You do not need to schedule everything, Otto. I promise I will answer the phone whenever you call."

Odinn stepped forward. He crossed his massive arms over his chest. He looked at Jun with a fierce expression.

"If you do not call us at least once a week," Odinn warned loudly, "I will buy a plane ticket to Indonesia and drag you back here myself. Do you understand?"

"I understand completely," Jun laughed. The laugh felt heavy in his chest.

Walking Through the Gate

Lanny opened her small backpack. She pulled out a small glass jar filled with folded pieces of colored paper. She handed the jar to Jun.

"We all wrote our favorite memories in here," Lanny explained softly. "Whenever you feel tired or miss the old high school days, just read one."

Kiki finally looked up. Her eyes looked watery, but she refused to cry. She stepped forward and wrapped her arms tightly around Jun. A moment later, Lanny joined the hug. Then Odinn wrapped his massive arms around all of them, pulling Otto into the circle as well. The five friends stood perfectly still in the middle of the chaotic airport.

The loudspeaker announced the final boarding call for the flight to Jakarta.

The circle finally broke. Jun grabbed his suitcase. He did not say goodbye. Goodbyes sounded too permanent.

"I will see you guys later," Jun said softly.

He turned around and walked toward the security checkpoint. He handed his ticket to the airport staff. Before walking through the metal detectors, Jun turned his head and looked back. His four friends remained firmly in their spot, watching him carefully. Jun raised his hand in the air one last time, stepped through the gate, and carried their memories across the world.

Getting Lost in the City Neon Lights A Teen Story

Getting Lost in the City Neon Lights A Teen Story

2D webtoon comic illustration of a teenage boy and girl standing on a busy city sidewalk under bright neon lights looking lost.

The Blinding Lights

Ceritasakti.com - The downtown city center never truly slept. Bright pink and blue neon signs flashed endlessly against the dark night sky. The sidewalks were packed with people walking quickly, carrying briefcases, and talking loudly on their phones.

Otto stood near the edge of a busy crosswalk. He adjusted his thick glasses. The bright glowing lights reflected on his lenses. He felt a terrible headache forming behind his eyes. He spent the last ten hours staring at complicated math equations in the library.

Lanny waited next to him. She wore her bright yellow jacket, but the cheerful color seemed faded under the harsh city lights. She just finished an exhausting shift at the hospital clinic.

The pedestrian signal finally turned green. They walked across the wide street together, dodging people who moved in a hurry.

"The city moves too fast," Otto observed quietly. "Everyone looks incredibly angry and rushed. I do not understand why adulthood requires so much speed."

Lanny nodded in agreement. She guided Otto toward a slightly quieter side street.

They found a small concrete bench outside a closed bookstore. Lanny claimed a spot on the cold stone. Otto settled carefully beside her, dropping his heavy backpack on the ground.

"I made a mistake at the clinic today," Lanny confessed. She stared at her sneakers. "I mixed up two important files. The senior nurse yelled at me in front of everyone. I felt like a foolish kid pretending to be an adult."

Otto understood that feeling perfectly. "The pressure is immense," Otto said. "I took a practice test this morning. I scored lower than last month. If I fail the real exam, I cannot afford the university tuition. The future feels like a massive, terrifying wall."

They watched a yellow taxi speed down the wet street. A few months ago, their biggest problem was fixing a broken car radio to listen to a football game. Now, the stakes were incredibly high. Life no longer offered any easy safety nets.

Fighting the Current

Lanny pulled her phone out of her pocket. She opened their group message. The screen remained mostly empty. Odinn sent one blurry picture of a wooden pallet earlier that morning. Jun sent a short message about a spark plug. Nobody arranged a meetup. Nobody suggested eating pizza on a roof.

"It takes effort now," Lanny whispered. "Friendship used to be so easy. We just existed in the same place. Now, staying connected feels like swimming against a very strong river."

Otto leaned his back against the cold glass of the bookstore window. "Then we have to swim harder," he stated firmly. "The adult world wants us to become isolated. It wants us to just work, sleep, and pay bills. If we lose the group, we let the neon lights win."

Lanny locked her phone screen. A small wave of determination replaced her exhaustion.

"Odinn gets his first paycheck next week," Lanny said. "And Kiki submits her final application on Friday. We are going to force everyone into Jun's car. No excuses."

Otto smiled. The city still looked massive and blindingly bright. The pressure of exams and hospital shifts still waited for them tomorrow. But as they stood up from the concrete bench and walked back toward the train station, the giant glowing city did not look quite as terrifying anymore.

A Quiet Coffee Shop on a Tuesday Afternoon A Teen Story

A Quiet Coffee Shop on a Tuesday Afternoon A Teen Story

2D webtoon comic illustration of one teenage girl studying alone at a quiet coffee shop table next to a rainy window.

The Empty Chair

Ceritasakti.com - The small bell above the coffee shop door rang quietly. Kiki walked inside and shook the cold raindrops from her umbrella. The café smelled strongly of roasted beans and sweet vanilla syrup.

She occupied a small corner table near the large front window. Usually, she needed a large table. Usually, Odinn demanded extra space for his long legs, and Otto needed room to spread out his massive history books. But today, Kiki only needed a tiny round table for herself.

She placed her thick college application folders on the smooth wooden surface. The adult world demanded a lot of paperwork.

Kiki looked at the empty chair across from her. Two months ago, they spent every afternoon together. Now, Odinn worked heavy shifts at the warehouse. Lanny volunteered at the city hospital until late evening. Otto locked himself inside his room to prepare for the state exams.

The silence in the coffee shop felt incredibly heavy. She missed the loud arguments about pizza. She missed the terrible jokes.

Kiki opened her blue folder and picked up a black pen. She tried to focus on writing her college essay, but the words did not make any sense.

The front door bell rang again.

Jun walked into the café. He wore dirty blue jeans and a dark gray t-shirt. His hands had dark grease stains from working at the mechanic garage all morning. He spotted Kiki in the corner and quickly walked over.

Jun leaned over the back of the empty chair. "I only have a ten-minute break," Jun said, breathing heavily. "The garage is incredibly busy today. But I wanted to bring you this."

He placed a small paper bag on top of her college folders. Kiki opened the bag. It contained a warm chocolate pastry from the bakery next to his garage.

"You remembered my favorite," Kiki smiled.

Keeping the Connection

"Of course I remembered," Jun replied. He rested his elbows on the table and looked at her tired eyes. "Everyone is completely exhausted lately. I talked to Odinn last night. He sounded very tired. Otto is stressing out about his math scores."

Kiki took a bite of the warm pastry. The sweet chocolate made her feel slightly better. "We are drifting apart, Jun. The schedule is pulling everyone in different directions."

Jun shook his head firmly. "We are not drifting, Kiki. We are just growing up. Growing up requires a lot of hard work. But a busy schedule cannot break what we built."

Jun checked the dirty clock on the café wall. He sighed. His ten-minute break was over. He needed to go back to the loud garage and fix broken engines.

"I have to go," Jun said. He tapped the wooden table twice. "Keep writing that essay. You are going to get into a great school."

Kiki watched Jun run back out into the rainy street. The coffee shop felt quiet again, but the empty chair did not feel so lonely anymore. She picked up her black pen and finally started writing.

Waiting for the Morning Bus A Story of Teenage Patience

Waiting for the Morning Bus A Story of Teenage Patience

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers shivering at a dark bus stop under a single street lamp on a cold morning.

(You are reading Episode 4 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 3 here | Read Episode 5 here)

The Cold Dawn

Ceritasakti.com - The city clock tower showed five in the morning. The sky remained completely dark. Thick white fog covered the empty streets. The air felt incredibly cold and sharp against the skin.

Odinn stood motionless under the flickering yellow street lamp at the bus stop. He wore a thick brown canvas jacket and heavy work boots. Today was his first official shift at the lumber warehouse. He needed to be there by six.

He rubbed his cold hands together. He did not expect anyone to join him. But the sound of footsteps echoed on the wet pavement.

Jun walked out of the fog. He held two steaming paper cups of cheap corner-store coffee. Kiki walked right behind him, wrapped tightly in a massive gray scarf. A moment later, a small car pulled up to the curb. Otto and Lanny stepped out, shivering in the freezing morning wind.

"What are you guys doing here?" Odinn asked. His voice sounded hoarse.

"You think we would let you face the first terrible shift alone?" Jun replied. Jun handed Odinn a hot paper cup.

Gathered Under the Light

The five friends gathered closely around the small concrete bus shelter. Nobody complained about the terrible hour.

Lanny perched on the edge of the freezing bench. She tucked her hands deep into her jacket pockets. Otto leaned against the metal schedule pole. He looked exhausted. He stayed up all night studying for his upcoming entrance exams, but he still showed up.

Kiki rested her shoulder against Jun's arm to share some warmth.

"My boss said I will carry wooden planks for eight hours today," Odinn broke the silence. He stared at his heavy boots. "I have never worked eight hours in my entire life."

"You are the strongest person in our group," Lanny encouraged him. "You carried my broken bicycle for two miles last year. Wooden planks are nothing for you."

Otto adjusted his glasses with a shivering hand. "Just remember to lift with your knees, Odinn. The human spine is very fragile under repetitive stress."

Odinn smiled faintly. He took a sip of the hot coffee. The terrible fear in his stomach slowly disappeared.

The Yellow Headlights

They waited in the freezing fog for another twenty minutes. They did not talk much. The cold air made conversation difficult. But the silent support meant everything. They were no longer the carefree kids eating pizza on a warm roof. They were growing up, and growing up felt freezing cold.

Finally, two large yellow headlights pierced through the thick mist. The heavy city bus turned the corner. Its large diesel engine rumbled loudly, shaking the wet pavement beneath their feet.

The bus stopped right in front of them with a loud hiss of air brakes. The folding doors opened.

Odinn handed his empty coffee cup to Jun. He looked at his four friends standing in the dark.

"I will see you guys," Odinn said quietly.

"Call us when your shift ends," Kiki demanded.

Odinn nodded. He stepped onto the bus. The doors closed quickly. The bus drove away, disappearing back into the thick morning fog. The four remaining friends stood together under the street lamp. They watched the red taillights vanish. The real world officially started today.

The Highway to the East Coast A Teenage Road Trip

The Highway to the East Coast A Teenage Road Trip

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers driving a vintage car on a long highway near the ocean coast.

(You are reading Episode 3 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 2 here | Read Episode 4 here)

The Open Highway

Ceritasakti.com - The tires of the old car rolled smoothly over the dark asphalt. The long highway stretched endlessly toward the east coast. On their right side, the massive blue ocean crashed against the rocky shore. The salty wind blew fiercely through the open car windows.

Jun settled behind the steering wheel. He kept his eyes focused on the winding road. Kiki claimed the front passenger seat. She rested her arm on the door frame and let the strong wind play with her hair.

In the back, three people squeezed together. Otto leaned his head against the cold glass window. Lanny perched on the edge of the middle cushion. Odinn stretched his long legs as much as the small space allowed.

They did not play any music today. The loud sound of the ocean waves and the roaring car engine provided the perfect background noise.

"How many more miles?" Odinn asked loudly over the wind.

Jun glanced at the dashboard. "About thirty miles left until we reach the lighthouse. Are you getting tired already?"

"I am never tired," Odinn replied. He grabbed a plastic bottle of water and took a long drink.

The Approaching Reality

Lanny rested her chin on the back of Kiki's seat. She looked at the passing green trees.

"This is the last time we can do this," Lanny said softly. Her voice sounded entirely different from her usual cheerful tone.

The car grew quiet. Everyone knew exactly what she meant. Summer was ending very soon. Next week, Otto needed to leave for his new college prep classes in the north. Lanny had a strict internship at a local hospital. And Odinn officially started his first full-time job at the shipping warehouse to help his family pay the bills.

"We will still have weekends," Kiki tried to sound positive. She turned her body slightly to look at her friends in the back.

Otto adjusted his glasses. "Weekends are for studying and sleeping, Kiki. The schedule is going to completely change for all of us."

Driving Toward the Edge

Jun gripped the steering wheel a little tighter. He did not want to think about schedules. He did not want to think about money or jobs. Right now, he just wanted to drive his friends toward the edge of the land.

"We are not talking about next week," Jun commanded gently. "We are only talking about the coast. Look at that water."

Odinn leaned forward and pointed toward the horizon. A tall white lighthouse finally appeared in the distance. The bright afternoon sun made the white paint glow against the blue sky.

Lanny smiled. She rested her hand on Odinn's shoulder. Otto rolled his window down further to smell the fresh saltwater.

They drove closer to the massive ocean. Adulthood waited patiently for them back in the crowded city. But on this long coastal highway, they were still just five teenagers running wild and free.

The Rooftop Sunset and a Box of Pizza A Slice of Life

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers sitting on a high building rooftop eating pizza during a warm orange sunset.

(You are reading Episode 2 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 1 here | Read Episode 3 here)

High Above the Streets

Ceritasakti.com - The traffic on the city streets looked like tiny moving toy cars from up here. The five friends sat safely behind the thick concrete wall on the roof of Jun's apartment building. The late afternoon air felt warm and comfortable.

Odinn placed a large square cardboard box right in the middle of their circle. He opened the top. The amazing smell of hot melted cheese and spicy pepperoni filled the air.

"This is the greatest moment of my week," Odinn announced. He immediately grabbed the biggest slice of pizza.

Kiki pulled her knees to her chest. She watched the sun slowly fall toward the tall buildings in the west. The sky turned into beautiful shades of bright orange and deep purple.

"I love coming up here," Kiki said. "The city is so loud down there. But up here, everything feels quiet. We can just breathe."

Otto carefully folded his pizza slice in half before eating it. "The wind carries the sound waves differently at this height," Otto explained with a serious face.

Lanny playfully pushed Otto's shoulder. "Stop being a science teacher for one second and just enjoy the sunset, Otto."

Talking About Tomorrow

They ate the warm pizza and watched the clouds change color. This was their favorite tradition. They survived another long week of school exams, and this rooftop was their safe place.

"What do you guys want to do after we graduate?" Lanny asked suddenly. She stared at the orange sun. "It feels like we only have a little bit of time left before everything gets serious."

Jun leaned back against the rough concrete wall. "I want to open a garage," Jun said. "I want to fix old classic cars and make them run perfectly again."

"I am going to travel," Kiki added quickly. "I want to see the ocean in Europe. I want to ride a train across mountains. I do not want to stay in this city forever."

Odinn chewed his food loudly. "I just want to be rich enough to buy my own pizza restaurant. Then I will never have to share with you guys."

They all laughed. The future sounded very simple on a warm Friday evening. They did not worry about paying rent. They did not worry about finding jobs or paying for expensive college classes yet.

The City Lights

The sun finally disappeared completely. The sky turned dark blue. Below them, thousands of yellow city streetlights turned on all at once. The city looked like a glowing electric blanket.

Otto grabbed the last piece of pizza. "Whatever happens," Otto said quietly, "we have to keep doing this. We cannot let graduation break the group."

"We will never break," Jun promised.

Kiki rested her head on Lanny's shoulder. The cold night wind started to blow across the roof, but they did not want to go inside yet. They sat together in the dark. They watched the glowing city lights. Everything felt perfect. They were young, they were full of food, and they had each other.

The Summer Camp Train Ride A Story of New Beginnings

2D webtoon comic illustration of five teenagers sitting together inside a sunny train cabin laughing and sharing snacks.

(You are reading Episode 1 of The Transition Series. Read Episode 2 here)

The Loud Whistle

Ceritasakti.com - The heavy metal train wheels made a loud clacking sound against the iron tracks. The old train moved quickly past tall green trees and open farm fields. Inside the third train cabin, the air smelled like old fabric seats and sweet orange candy.

Jun pushed his heavy green backpack onto the top luggage rack. He sat down near the large glass window. This was the first day of their high school summer camp trip.

Four other teenagers sat in the same cabin area. They all went to the same school, but they did not know each other very well yet. That was about to change.

Otto sat across from Jun. Otto wore thick glasses and held a heavy history book. Next to Otto sat Odinn. Odinn did not hold a book. Odinn held a large plastic bag full of potato chips.

"Do you want some?" Odinn asked. He pushed the bag of salty chips toward the girls sitting next to Jun.

Breaking the Ice

Kiki looked at the chips and smiled. She took a small handful. "Thank you. I forgot to pack breakfast today."

Lanny sat next to Kiki. Lanny wore a bright yellow jacket. She pulled a small plastic box from her own bag.

"I have fresh strawberries," Lanny offered. She opened the box and placed it on the small wooden table between their seats.

Eating food together is the fastest way to make new friends. Jun took a red strawberry. Otto finally put his heavy book down. Soon, the five of them were trading snacks and talking loudly over the noise of the train wheels.

Odinn told a very bad joke about a flying cow. Jun laughed so hard he dropped his potato chip on the floor. Lanny threw a small piece of napkin at Odinn's head.

"That was the worst joke in the world," Kiki said. Her face turned red from laughing.

The Long Journey Ahead

The train blew a loud whistle. They passed over a wide blue river. The sunlight hit the water and made it sparkle like broken glass.

Jun watched his four new friends. Otto explained a random fact about the river bridge. Odinn argued with him. Kiki and Lanny laughed at both of the boys. The cabin felt completely alive.

They still had three more hours until they reached the summer camp. Jun did not mind the long ride anymore. The hard metal seats did not feel uncomfortable. High school often felt scary and incredibly lonely. But looking at the messy table full of shared snacks, Jun knew this summer was going to be completely different.

They watched the green mountains appear in the distance. The train moved forward, taking the five of them straight into the best years of their lives.

Baking Carrot Cake on a Rainy Sunday A Slice of Life Story

Baking Carrot Cake on a Rainy Sunday A Slice of Life Story

2D webtoon comic illustration of two teenage girls baking a cake and a teenage boy covered in white flour in a warm kitchen.

Read time - 7 minutes

The Heavy Sunday Rain

Ceritasakti.com - Heavy rain hit the thick glass of the kitchen window. The sky outside looked entirely gray. The street was completely empty. Nobody wanted to go outside on a Sunday like this.

Kiki stood by the large wooden kitchen counter. She loved rainy days. The house felt incredibly safe and warm.

Lanny opened the tall white refrigerator. She pulled out a bag of fresh orange carrots and a carton of cold eggs.

"We need to grate all of these carrots," Lanny said. Lanny placed the heavy bag on the counter.

Kiki grabbed a metal grater. "We are making the biggest carrot cake today. The rain is not stopping anytime soon."

Odinn walked into the kitchen. Odinn wore a loose gray sweater. He rubbed his sleepy eyes. He looked at the carrots and the large glass mixing bowl.

"I want to help," Odinn announced. "I am a master baker."

"You burned the toast yesterday," Kiki reminded him.

"That was yesterday," Odinn replied. Odinn grabbed a large paper bag of white flour from the top shelf.

The White Flour Mess

Jun and Otto sat at the round dining table in the corner of the kitchen. Jun drank a cup of hot tea. Otto focused on a massive jigsaw puzzle. Otto held a small blue puzzle piece in his hand.

"Do not let Odinn touch the flour," Jun warned from the table. Jun did not look up from the puzzle.

It was too late. Odinn opened the paper bag of flour. He poured the flour into a measuring cup very quickly. The white flour puffed up into the air like a small cloud. The white dust covered Odinn's black hair. The flour covered his gray sweater.

Lanny laughed loudly. Lanny pointed a wooden spoon at Odinn.

"You look like a ghost," Lanny said.

Odinn sneezed. A small cloud of flour blew off his nose. "Baking is a very messy art," Odinn defended himself.

Kiki wiped the kitchen counter with a wet cloth. She took the flour bag away from Odinn. "You can stir the wet ingredients. I will handle the dry powder."

The Warm Oven

They spent the next hour working together. Kiki grated the orange carrots into thin pieces. Lanny mixed the brown sugar and the cooking oil. Odinn stirred the wet bowl with a large wooden spoon. Odinn stirred very aggressively.

They poured the thick orange batter into a dark metal baking pan. Kiki opened the hot oven. A wave of heat hit her face. She carefully pushed the metal pan onto the middle rack and closed the oven door.

"Now we wait," Kiki said. She washed her hands in the sink.

Thirty minutes passed. The smell of sweet cinnamon and warm sugar filled the entire house. The amazing smell reached the dining table. Otto stopped working on his puzzle. Jun put his empty tea cup down.

"That smells incredible," Otto said. Otto looked at the digital clock on the oven.

A Sweet Slice of Life

The oven timer finally made a loud beeping sound. Lanny wore thick red oven mitts. Lanny pulled the hot metal pan out of the oven.

The carrot cake looked perfect. The top had a beautiful golden brown color. They waited ten minutes for the hot cake to cool down.

Kiki used a long metal knife to cut the cake. She placed a thick square slice on a small white plate for everyone. They did not sit at the dining table. They all stood around the kitchen counter.

Odinn took a large bite. His eyes went wide. "I am truly a master baker."

"You only stirred the bowl, Odinn," Jun laughed. Jun ate his slice quickly. The warm cake tasted sweet and very soft.

The heavy rain continued to hit the glass window. The kitchen felt completely full of life. Five friends standing in a messy kitchen eating warm cake. They did not need to be anywhere else. A rainy Sunday is sometimes the best day of the week.
