The Summer Melody

Ceritasakti.com - The golden summer sun shone incredibly brightly, warming the vast, green meadow. Beautiful wildflowers bloomed in every direction, radiating a sweet, calming fragrance that could soothe anyone's soul.

Right in the middle of this beautiful paradise, a relaxed, bright green Grasshopper was sitting cross-legged on top of a giant, wide mushroom umbrella.

He closed his eyes peacefully and smoothly dragged his bow across the strings of his tiny wooden violin, creating a wonderfully sweet and melodious tune.

"Ah, what an absolutely magnificent day to just relax, sing, and enjoy the beautiful sunshine!" the Grasshopper murmured to himself, smiling widely as he enjoyed the gentle summer breeze.

The March of the Hard Workers

Suddenly, the Grasshopper's beautiful music came to a halt when he noticed a long line of tiny insects marching right below his mushroom.

It was an army of hardworking Ants! They were carrying giant wheat grains, heavy breadcrumbs, and thick green leaves that were much, much larger than their own tiny bodies.

One particular worker Ant stopped near the mushroom. He was panting heavily, wiping the exhausting sweat from his tiny forehead while trying to balance a massive grain of wheat on his back.

"Hey there, little Ant! Why in the world are you torturing yourself on such a gorgeous, sunny day?" the Grasshopper called out, leaning over the edge of the mushroom.

"Come up here, drop that heavy burden, and sing a happy song with me!" the Grasshopper invited with a cheerful, lazy tone.

Preparing for the Future

The tiny Ant stopped in his tracks just long enough to catch his breath. He looked up at his lazy friend with a gentle, meaningful gaze.

"I am very sorry, Grasshopper, but I cannot rest right now. I must help my colony gather enough food supplies for the freezing winter," the Ant answered politely.

Hearing this, the Grasshopper burst into loud, ringing laughter until his green belly shook. He thought the Ant's answer was the silliest thing he had ever heard!

"Winter is still so very far away, my friend! Look around you, there is plenty of delicious food everywhere in this lush meadow!" the Grasshopper argued, casually plucking the strings of his violin again.

"You had better start preparing right now, Grasshopper. Heavy rains and freezing storms can arrive at any moment without warning," the Ant advised wisely, before picking up his heavy wheat grain and continuing his long march.

The Arrival of the Cold Wind

Just as the wise Ant had predicted, the warm, comfortable days of summer passed by much faster than anyone expected.

The green leaves dried up and fell to the ground. The bright blue sky turned into a dark, gloomy gray, and a terrifying, freezing wind began to blow, piercing straight through to the bone!

The meadow, which was once so lush and full of life, was now completely covered in freezing frost and freezing wet mud.

The poor Grasshopper stumbled through the howling storm, dragging his frozen legs while hugging his tiny violin tightly to his chest. His empty stomach growled loudly, twisting in terrible hunger, because he could not find a single fresh green leaf left to eat anywhere in the meadow!

"It is so incredibly cold today... I can barely even feel my own legs," the Grasshopper whimpered, shivering violently in the freezing snow.

The Knock of Hope

In the middle of his absolute despair, the Grasshopper's freezing eyes caught a glimpse of a tiny, warm, golden light shining from a hole at the bottom of a giant oak tree.

It was the home of the Ant family! Looking through the tiny window, the home looked incredibly cozy, warm, and perfectly safe from the raging winter storm.

Using the very last drop of his fading energy, the Grasshopper crawled to the tiny wooden door and knocked very, very slowly.

Knock... knock... knock...

The heavy wooden door creaked open, revealing the exact same worker Ant that the Grasshopper had laughed at during the summer!

"Oh my goodness, Grasshopper! Your face is entirely pale, and your body is completely frozen in ice!" the Ant gasped, terribly shocked to see the horrifying condition of his friend.

The Warmth of a Soup Bowl

"Please help me, dear Ant. I am so terribly hungry and freezing. May I please beg for just a little bit of your leftover food?" the Grasshopper pleaded, his voice cracking and raspy.

Without saying a single word, the kind-hearted Ant immediately grabbed his friend's freezing hand and pulled him inside the cozy room, which was beautifully warmed by a crackling fireplace.

The Ant gently wrapped the Grasshopper's shivering shoulders in a soft, dry blanket made of autumn leaves. Then, he happily served him a giant, steaming bowl of hot, delicious wheat soup!

The Grasshopper quickly slurped the warm, savory broth. As the warmth filled his empty tummy, heavy tears of regret and gratitude rolled down his green cheeks.

"Thank you so much, Ant. You truly saved my life today," the Grasshopper sobbed, deeply regretting his own foolishness and laziness.

"You are very welcome, Grasshopper. From now on, you may stay right here and keep us company until the freezing winter passes," the Ant replied, smiling with pure, unconditional kindness.

The Moral Message of the Fable

The Grasshopper finally realized that life is not always warm and easy! From that day forward, he promised that he would always work hard alongside the ants whenever the summer sun returned.
