The Peaceful Lily Pond
Ceritasakti.com - Deep inside a lush, vibrant green forest, there was a large, peaceful pond covered in beautiful floating lily pads. This quiet pond was home to a massive family of happy, easygoing green frogs.
For many years, the frogs lived a perfectly simple life. They spent their warm sunny days swimming in the cool water, catching delicious flies, and singing loud, cheerful songs together under the bright moonlight.
They had absolutely no rulers, no strict laws, and no complicated problems. Everyone was perfectly equal, sharing the calm waters in complete harmony.
However, there was one particular frog named Croak who was never satisfied. Croak was slightly smaller than the others, but his ego was absolutely massive. He hated being treated like an ordinary, average frog.
"This pond is incredibly boring and completely unorganized!" Croak complained loudly one morning, crossing his tiny green arms. "We are highly intelligent creatures! We need structure, we need power, and most importantly, we need a magnificent King to lead us!"
The Golden Leaf Crown
An older, wiser frog named Barnaby swam up to the edge of the lily pad. He looked at Croak with a highly confused expression.
"Why on earth do we need a king, Croak?" Barnaby croaked gently. "We have plenty of sweet water, an endless supply of tasty bugs, and absolutely no enemies. We are already perfectly happy."
"Happiness is for the weak!" Croak argued arrogantly, jumping onto the highest rock in the center of the pond. "A true society needs a brilliant, glorious leader. And since I am clearly the smartest frog here, I will take that heavy burden!"
Croak reached down and picked up a bright yellow, perfectly shaped autumn leaf that had fallen from a nearby tree. He proudly placed the golden leaf on top of his head like a shiny royal crown.
"Attention, citizens of the pond!" Croak shouted at the top of his lungs, puffing out his throat as wide as possible. "From this glorious day forward, you shall address me as King Croak the First! Bow before your new ruler!"
The Ridiculous Royal Rules
The other frogs just stared at him in pure silence. A few of the younger frogs giggled softly, thinking it was just a very silly game. But Croak was absolutely serious.
Immediately, the newly crowned king began creating incredibly ridiculous rules to prove his supreme power.
"Rule number one!" Croak commanded, pointing his wet finger at the crowd. "No one is allowed to sing under the moonlight without my official royal permission! Only the King's song matters."
"Rule number two!" he continued loudly. "The large lily pad in the center of the pond is strictly reserved for my royal throne. If any ordinary frog touches it, they will be banished to the muddy bank!"
"And finally, rule number three," Croak smiled wickedly. "Every morning, each family must bring me their fattest, juiciest flies as a royal tax!"
The other frogs groaned in deep frustration. They did not want to argue with the loud, annoying little frog, so they simply agreed to his silly demands to keep the peace. For an entire week, Croak sat lazily on his giant lily pad, eating the best flies and barking orders like a cruel tyrant.
The Arrival of the Giant Stork
Croak truly believed he was the most powerful creature in the entire jungle. But his arrogant fantasy was about to crash down terribly.
One bright afternoon, a massive shadow suddenly covered the sunny pond. The frogs looked up in sheer terror as a giant, hungry white stork landed right in the shallow water.
The stork's long, sharp beak looked like a deadly spear, and his cold, yellow eyes scanned the pond for a fresh, tasty meal.
"Predator! Hide for your lives!" Barnaby shouted desperately. In a split second, every single ordinary frog dove deep down into the dark, muddy bottom of the pond to hide.
Every frog, except for King Croak.
Standing proudly on his royal lily pad, the arrogant little frog refused to dive into the dirty mud. A true king never hides from danger, he thought to himself.
The False Bravery
Croak puffed his chest out as wide as he possibly could and glared angrily at the giant bird.
"Hey, you! You clumsy, oversized feather duster!" Croak shouted bravely, pointing at the stork. "You are trespassing in my royal kingdom! I am King Croak the First, and I command you to bow down and leave my pond immediately!"
The giant stork slowly turned his head, completely amused by the tiny, loud creature wearing a yellow leaf on his head.
"A king, you say?" the stork chuckled, a deep, terrifying sound echoing from his long throat. "How absolutely wonderful. I have never eaten a king for lunch before. I wonder if royal frogs taste sweeter than ordinary ones?"
Before Croak could even blink, the stork's massive beak shot down like lightning, snapping directly at the royal lily pad!
The Narrow Escape
SNAPP!
Croak screamed in absolute terror and leaped backward with all of his tiny might. He barely dodged the deadly beak, but the sharp tip caught the edge of his golden leaf crown, snatching it right off his head.
His false bravery instantly shattered into a million pieces. Realizing he was not powerful at all, Croak scrambled frantically into the water, swimming faster than he ever had in his entire life.
He buried himself deep under the thick, dark mud next to Barnaby, shivering violently in pure fear. The stork, annoyed that he missed his target, simply swallowed the yellow leaf, flapped his giant wings, and flew away to find an easier meal.
When the pond was finally safe and quiet again, the frogs slowly surfaced from the mud. Croak climbed onto the bank, completely covered in dirty brown sludge. He had lost his crown, his royal lily pad was destroyed, and his giant ego was completely crushed.
"I am so sorry, everyone," Croak whispered quietly, looking down at his muddy webbed feet. "I was a terrible, arrogant fool. I am not a king. I am just a very lucky little frog."
