The Red Velvet Cape
Ceritasakti.com - Once upon a time, in a small, peaceful village right at the edge of a vast and magical green forest, lived a very sweet little girl. She was loved by everyone in the village, but her grandmother loved her the absolute most.
To show her affection, her grandmother had sewn a beautiful, warm cape made of bright red velvet, complete with a lovely hood. The little girl loved it so much that she wore it every single day, no matter the weather. Because of this, everyone in the village cheerfully called her Little Red Riding Hood.
One sunny Saturday morning, Little Red Riding Hood’s mother called her into the cozy kitchen. The kitchen smelled wonderfully of freshly baked bread and sweet butter.
"Your poor grandmother is feeling very sick today," her mother said gently, packing a beautiful woven basket. "I have baked a fresh loaf of bread and packed some sweet honey and soft butter. Please take this to her cottage to help her feel better."
Little Red Riding Hood smiled brightly and grabbed the basket handle. "Of course, Mother! I will go right away."
Before the little girl stepped out the front door, her mother knelt down and looked directly into her eyes with a very serious expression.
"Now, listen to me carefully, my sweet girl," her mother warned. "You must walk straight to grandmother's house. Do not leave the main dirt path, do not wander into the deep woods, and most importantly, do not talk to strangers!"
"I promise, Mother. I will be very careful," Little Red Riding Hood replied confidently, waving goodbye as she skipped toward the edge of the forest.
The Cunning Stranger
The forest was incredibly beautiful in the morning light. Golden sunbeams shined through the green leaves, and colorful butterflies danced in the air. Little Red Riding Hood enjoyed the walk so much that she completely forgot her mother's strict warning.
She saw a patch of beautiful blue and yellow wildflowers growing just a little bit off the main path. "Grandmother loves flowers," she thought to herself. "I will just pick a few. It will only take a minute!"
As she stepped off the path to pick the bright flowers, a shadow moved behind a large oak tree. Suddenly, a tall, fluffy, and incredibly cunning wolf stepped out from the bushes.
The wolf had a very empty stomach and thought the little girl looked like a wonderful morning snack. However, he knew the village woodcutters were working nearby, so he dared not attack her in the open. Instead, he decided to use his tricky brain.
"Good morning, Little Red Riding Hood," the wolf said, bowing politely and putting on his friendliest smile. "What a beautiful day it is. Where are you going so early in the morning?"
Little Red Riding Hood, forgetting that she was talking to a dangerous stranger, smiled back at the polite animal.
"Good morning, Mr. Wolf! I am going to see my grandmother. She is sick, so I am bringing her this heavy basket of fresh bread and sweet honey."
The Clever Trick
The wolf's mouth began to water immediately. "How very kind of you!" he purred softly. "And where exactly does your dear grandmother live?"
"She lives in the small wooden cottage at the very end of this forest path, right next to the three giant oak trees," the little girl answered honestly.
The wolf's mind raced with a wicked plan. He wanted to eat the grandmother for breakfast and the little girl for dessert.
"Look around you, my dear," the wolf pointed his furry paw at the forest. "There are so many beautiful singing birds and gorgeous flowers deeper in the woods. You are walking so fast that you are missing all the fun. Why don't you take your time and pick a massive bouquet for your grandmother?"
Little Red Riding Hood looked around and realized the wolf was right. The deeper woods looked incredibly inviting. "Thank you, Mr. Wolf. I will pick some more flowers!"
While the little girl happily wandered deeper into the woods, the greedy wolf sprinted as fast as his legs could carry him directly toward the grandmother's cottage.
The Famous Disguise
The wolf arrived at the quiet cottage out of breath. He knocked on the wooden door with his heavy paw. Tapp, tapp, tapp.
"Who is there?" a weak, tired voice called out from inside.
"It's me, Little Red Riding Hood," the wolf squeaked, trying his absolute best to make his rough voice sound like a sweet little girl. "I brought you some fresh bread and honey from Mother."
"Oh, how wonderful!" the grandmother cheered. "The door is unlocked, my dear. Just lift the latch and come inside."
The wolf threw the door open and leaped into the room. The poor grandmother was so incredibly shocked by the giant wolf that she jumped out of her bed and ran straight into the wooden clothes closet to hide.
"You cannot escape me!" the wolf laughed wickedly. He quickly locked the closet door from the outside, trapping the grandmother safely inside. "I will deal with you later. Right now, I have a trap to set!"
The greedy wolf quickly opened the grandmother's dresser. He put on her pink nightgown, placed her frilly sleeping cap over his furry ears, and slid her reading glasses onto his long snout. He pulled the heavy blankets up to his chin and waited quietly in the bed.
The Big Eyes and Big Teeth
A few minutes later, Little Red Riding Hood arrived at the cottage with a massive bouquet of wildflowers. She noticed that the front door was wide open.
"Good morning, Grandmother!" she called out cheerfully, stepping into the bedroom.
She walked closer to the bed, but the room was slightly dark. Her grandmother looked very strange today. The sleeping cap was pulled down low, and her voice sounded terribly rough.
"Put the basket on the table and come closer, my sweet dear," the wolf grunted, hiding his sharp claws under the blanket.
Little Red Riding Hood stepped closer, tilting her head in pure confusion. "Ohh, Grandmother, what big ears you have!"
"All the better to hear your sweet voice with, my dear," the wolf replied smoothly.
The little girl took another step forward, feeling a little bit nervous. "But Grandmother, what big eyes you have!"
"All the better to see your beautiful face with, my dear," the wolf said, his stomach rumbling loudly.
Little Red Riding Hood trembled slightly. "But Grandmother... what incredibly big, sharp teeth you have!"
The wolf threw the heavy blankets off the bed and leaped into the air with a terrifying roar. "All the better to eat you with!"
The Brave Rescue
"Help! A wolf!" Little Red Riding Hood screamed at the top of her lungs, dropping her flowers and running around the small kitchen table.
Her loud, desperate scream echoed out the open window and carried across the quiet forest. Just at that exact moment, a strong, brave woodcutter was walking past the cottage with his heavy axe resting on his shoulder.
Hearing the little girl's terrified scream, the woodcutter kicked the front door wide open and stormed into the bedroom. He raised his shiny, heavy axe high into the air, glaring fiercely at the wicked predator.
"Get away from her, you greedy beast!" the brave woodcutter shouted with a booming voice.
The wolf was an absolute coward when facing someone stronger than him. Terrified of the sharp axe, the wolf leaped out the open bedroom window, crying in fear, and ran deep into the darkest part of the forest. He ran so far and so fast that he was never, ever seen in that village again.
A Lesson Learned
The woodcutter quickly unlocked the heavy wooden closet, and the grandmother stepped out, completely safe and unhurt. Little Red Riding Hood ran into her grandmother's arms, crying tears of relief.
"I am so sorry, Grandmother," the little girl cried softly. "I did not listen to Mother. I left the path and talked to a stranger, and it almost caused a terrible disaster."
Her grandmother hugged her tightly and smiled warmly. "We all make mistakes, my sweet girl. The most important thing is that you are safe, and you have learned a very valuable lesson today."
They thanked the brave woodcutter for saving their lives and invited him to sit at the kitchen table. Together, they shared the fresh, warm bread, the sweet butter, and the golden honey. Little Red Riding Hood never forgot the terrifying adventure, and from that day on, she always stayed on the safe path and never spoke to strangers in the woods again.
